Printing Wirelessly to the Queue Server in TMEC and Countway Using Windows-Based Laptops
This step-by-step document shows you how to add a printer in the TMEC using a Windows-based laptop
to connect to the Student Computing Queue Server.
This documentation is based on running Windows XP. Please note that these steps may
vary for Windows Vista users.

Summary of Required Steps:
I. Log in to the Private HMS Wireless
1. Launch Internet Explorer.
2. Log in to the Private HMS Wireless Network by using your
eCommons username and case-sensitive password. If your computer is not set up to log into the private HMS wireless network, then carefully,
read the following on how to connect to the private HMS wireless network at the HMS IT Department's website:

II. Add a Network Printer
1. Click on the Start menu, then Settings and then
Printers.
2. Double click the Add Printer icon in the Printers window. Click on the button,
Next.

3. Click the select button, Network Printer. Then click Next.

4. Select the button, Connect to a printer (or to browse for a printer, select this option and click Next), in the
dialog window, Locate Your Printer. e.g., For the 9050 printer in the Student Computing Lab, you would enter,
\\itwvprtp01\STUDENTLAB-LJ9050. See below figure for more printer names.

5. Click on Yes or No if you want this printer to be
your default printer. Then click Next. Then click Finish.

8. Test the wireless connection by right clicking on the appropriate printer (e.g., STUDENTLAB-9050 on itwvprtp01) icon in your
Printer list. Click on the button, Print Test Page to see if it prints out a
test page to the appropriate printer in the TMEC or Countway.

9. NOTE: The installation of a network printer needs
to happen only once. However, if you restart your machine, you must always authenticate to the private HMS Wireless Network
and then do the following to authenticate to the printing queue server before you can do a print job. Navigate to Start>Run and enter
the following information in the figure below.

Two dialog windows will open: one showing a list of all the printers, and the second prompting you to log into the print queue server
by using your MyCourses/eCommons credentials:
Username: med\[MyCourses username]
Password: case-sensitive password
Check off Remember my password
Click OK and then close out of all remaining open windows.
